It’s your special day and I believe that every bride should find the whole process of make-up and hair a real treat. After all of the wedding planning, it’s time just for you!
Bridal make-up and hair begins with your trial. As I’ll be a part of one of the most important days of your life, I think it’s vital for us to meet each other beforehand. At the trial we’ll spend 2 to 3 hours together (depending if it’s just make-up or hair and make-up trial).
First of all, we’ll talk through any ideas you might have. Bring with photos of your dress, flowers, colour scheme, plus any make-up or hair looks from internet that you like. This is just what I need to understand better what you’re expecting and looking for. All of this will tie up perfectly into the make-up look we create together. I’ll also ask about your make-up habits: how much make-up you wear on a daily basis and for special occasions, to understand the amount of make-up you are used to and the intensity. We’ll also discuss products you use, any sensitivities or allergies you may have. I try to get as much information as possible to help me to decide on the make-up I’m about to create; having in mind your face, eye shapes, colouring and skin type.
The same goes for your hair – I like to know how you normally style your hair and what you’re used to. Don’t worry if you don’t have any ideas – with all the questions I ask, this will give me a good idea of what would suit you and, most importantly, what you’ll be comfortable wearing.
The request I get from the brides the most is “I want to look like myself, but on a very very good day. As bridal make-up and hair must photograph very well, after the trial I take professional portraits with my camera (which I’ve trained for) and send these on to you afterwards so that you can see how the make-up and hairstyle translates in photos.
Before your wedding day I’ll send you timings so that you know exactly when I’ll arrive and when everyone’s make-up/hair will be. On the wedding morning, I arrive well before the planned start for your total peace of mind. For me it’s very important to keep track of time; especially if there are quite a few people for make-up/hair. After I finish with make-up/hair looks and touch ups I’ll help the bridal party as much as I can to help them get ready and leave on time. I always stay until you get into your dress for a final touch up and to put your veil on. If there is time and the opportunity – I’ll take some portrait photos of you. Only after I make sure everyone looks amazing, I’m ready to leave.
